Attendance – James Adams, Alissa Minger, Gina Mentzer, Denise Hilmes, Calli Turner, Steve Yeoman, Clayton Schrader, Kristi Pyle and Chris Stephens

The meeting was held in the WI Library. Adames asked for a review of the minutes of the Feb 15 meeting. Yeoman motioned to approve minutes. Motion was seconded and approved by those in attendance.

President remarks – Adams thanks Alissa Minger for presiding at the Feb PTO meeting in his absence. Adams attended the Elmont technology night. They had presentations in each classroom showing the technology being used. He feels WI is comparable to Elmont in terms on technology.

Principal’s report – Yeoman announced that bus driver Joe McCune had passed away and they would make an announcement in the newsletter. Also, bus driver Don Hale retired. Carnival basket items are due April 1. Thanked all the volunteers that helped with picture day. WI and Rochester are hosting the district wellness night on March 17. State assessment testing is the week after Spring Break. Yeoman stated that the District decides on when each school will test, the schools don’t make the decision. Yeoman had submitted a proposal for school technology and after finding out new information wants to change his proposal. He would still like money for clickers for the SMART boards. District is going to purchase remaining SMART boards, pending Board approval. The next option would be to have another mobile lab. With laptops running about $1,000 each the money earmarked for technology would only cover half of a mobile lab. iPads were discussed as an option vs. laptops. WI technology was discussed at length. The District Technology Dept and Board approved to go forward with the idea of iPads if approved by the PTO. Interest was shown by PTO and Yeoman will proceed with the new proposal.

Treasurer’s report – Pyle presented the report.

Beginning Balance: $25,038.77 Ending balance: $25,829.79

Mentzer motioned to move $2,499 from the Playground fund to the Technology fund. Motion was tabled until next meeting.

Teacher Rep – None

Volunteer report – Mentzer, the carnival chair, announced that all carnival committees have been filled, The Pad will cater, 500 water bottles have been donated, several new items at the carnival and they will be doing arm bands again. The carnival is May 6 from 3 to 6 p.m. April 21 is Kindergarten round-up, April 22 is the Spring Teacher’s Luncheon, April 27 is Admin Asst Day and May 2-6 is Teacher Appreciation Week. Nominations are still needed for the 2011-12 PTO Board, see Lisa Hebert.

New Business – None

Unfinished Business – Yeoman talked to the teachers concern snacks for testing. The teachers appreciate anything for testing. The PTO will purchase bulk items and they will be distributed to the classes.

Next meeting is April 19.

Meeting adjourned.
