The meeting was held in the West Indianola library.
President’s Remarks – Calhoon began the meeting and welcomed all in attendance. He asked for a review of the minutes of the February 17 meeting. Fazio made a motion to approve the minutes. The motion was seconded and approved by those in attendance. Calhoon commented the carnival is coming up and plans are coming together.
Treasurer’s Report – Fazio reviewed the financial report.
Beginning Balance: $12,006.03 Bank Balance: $12,935.72
Principal’s Report – Anderson reported they had a pep assembly to get the kids geared up for state assessment. Teachers wore fun hats, they did chants and the kids really enjoyed the assembly. Things are going well at West Indianola.
Teacher Representatives – Jenson commented that the state assessment assembly was very creative and the kids had a good time. She thanked the parents for understanding how important the testing is.
Volunteer Report – Pappan talked about the bulk school supply order for the classrooms. The order would be for scissors, rulers and protractors so the students would have the same materials when working on projects. The cost would be $306.42. Fazio moved to pay for the bulk school supply order for the classrooms. The motion was seconded and approved by those in attendance. Box tops have been sent in and WI should receive approx. $237. Volunteers are needed for the carnival. A flyer will be sent home with students asking for volunteers. The Nestle water labels will be sent in and items will be selected for PE equipment for next year. Ink cartridges will also be turned in soon.
Old Business – The elections will be at the next PTO meeting on April 21. Those interested in serving on the WI PTO Board should contact the Nominating Committee Chairperson, Michelle Morrison. The bylaw change was voted on. McPhail moved to strike the last sentence from ARTICLE VI: COMMITTEES, Section B: Filling Committee Chairs: After the election of new officers, committee chair position will be open to all PTO members to volunteer for said positions for the following school year. Committee chairs are to give a report of all committee meetings and plans to the president. Members may only serve as chair of one (1) committee per year unless otherwise approved by the executive board.
The motion was seconded and approved by those in attendance.
New Business – Kindergarten round up is April 9. There are 48 currently signed up to attend. There was $205 that was turned in for the all school skate night.
